          JOHNSON FAMILY HISTORY

Our Johnson family history starts in Tysnes, Norway. Because of the naming system in Norway the surnames of each generation will be different.  The surname was usually taken by the fathers first name with son or datter added to it depending on if the child was a girl or boy. Our first family from Norway was Kirsten Johannesson who on arrival changed his name to Charles Johnson. He came on the ship "Auckland" in 1892. This first part of the history is of his family in Norway.
