James Houston born c1829 son of William Houston, a weaver, and Anne (Heggy) possibly not her real surname. James usual address when married was Aughnahoy, Parish of Ahoghill, Antrim, Ireland.
He married Jane Reid born c1827 daughter of Bernard Reid and Mary ? whose usual residence was Gortfad, Parish of Ahoghill, Antrim, Ireland. They married at Ballymena Registry Office on the 18 Sep 1852. Religion was Church of Scotland. It is unclear at this stage whether James and Jane were born in Ireland.
James and Jane left Ireland and boarded a ship from Plymouth called "Australia" on the 27 Mar 1853, with baby William. They arrived in Botany Bay on the 8 Jun 1853. Sadly William died on the voyage aged 15 months. All up they had 13 children in which only 5 survived into Adulthood.

MY FATHER

My father was Stanley James Houston son of Robert James Houston and Rubina Myrtle Lockhart. He was born 1925 and died 1984. He had a long association with the Boy Scouts in Golden Square/Bendigo starting in 1933 as a wolf cub until becoming a warranted leader in 1957. He served in the second world war as a private between 1942 and 1945. He married my mother Edna Joyce Johnson in 1948 and they had 5 children. They left Bendigo in 1959 and settled in Hampton, Melbourne. If anybody knew my father I would love to hear from you.
